Chatelaine Swivel Clasp-Gold

As early as the 1750's*, Chatelaines were the original belt hook worn by the lady of the castle, the house, the estate. It would hold keys to the wine cellar, the silver cabinet, sewing scissors, a watch, even smelling salts. The fancier they were, the more status it reflected for the household. The chatelaine swivel clasp hasn't changed in all that time; it is still the original push clasp. Today the rage is using them to hold charms to add to pearls or chain. And we couldn't agree more... we are so into them we have an April 2026 project, Old Days, for The Great Bead Extravaganza. 

Similar to the Push and Swivel which was used in TGBE Knotted Gemstone Necklace, the Chatelaine Swivel is a more affordable replacement. It measures 18x6.5mm with inner loop diameter of 1.7mm. We recommend a jump ring, like the 6mm 18 gauge jump rings for your charms so they hang freely.

Made in China of brass and then carefully plated with a Gold finish.
