Hydria
Project Map
Project and Sample by Janice Parsons
Janice loves the timeless colors of bronze vessels from Ancient Greece. Water jars, known as Hydria, are especially graceful. She was very drawn to this one with it's flowing embellishment. It can be seen today in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Gallery 158. It was intended to remain a bright gold, but over time the metals have burnished to a beautiful green patina.
Janice says, "I never tire of both the beauty and grace of bronze when it turns the color of ocean."
Color Study is a classic beadshop laddered wrap project intended to bring together beads of different shapes and sizes within a particular color palette. We usually see a section of laddered chain, but Janice skipped that in favor of bringing us three new skills instead: laddering with Miyuki Drops, laddering with two-holed Czech Bars, and using a magnetic clasp.
