Sample and Project by Emily Miller

The response to the initial Bits & Pieces samples by our customers and Facebook LIVE audience was amazing, so we asked Emily to share some new colorways and we really fell for Harbor. There’s something about heading down to the harbor to relax and find inspiration in the blue water, white sails, and the up and down of the boats gently knocking against the dock; it’s just such a great feeling. Harbor combines white, cream, and silver with navy thread to bring a new spin on Bits & Pieces and Emily also explores adding a new shape. "Try crocheting with silver heishi in a neat row…it will look just ship-shape!"

Emily uses a .90 Crochet Hook and Micro C-Lon to create a long, almost endless design with an assortment of beads in all kinds of shapes and finishes. Click the Video Tab above to watch our FB Live Episode with Emily and Kate. To download the handout, click the Download Handout Button to the left. And, on our FB Live Page, you can download Episode Notes for further written details of the learning.

Please Note: Capri Blue micro C-Lon is no longer available, so we have replaced it with Caribbean Blue for this project. We also no longer sell Peanut beads, but you can easily add more of your seed beads instead.

Project Map

There are more than enough materials to make this as long as you like. Be sure to factor the button and loop lengths into your desired, finished length. Emily suggests adding an extra single stitch between the 6/0 beads and 4mm firepolish allowing more blue thread to show. As a variation, she made a beaded loop, rather than crochet one. Bead creative and do what feels right for you!
