Project and Sample by Kate Richbourg

Our medley of Miyuki becomes a wild wrap! It's like a party on your wrist, and every bead shape is invited! Using our October 2023 Monthly Mix, Melange, Kate creates a two-strand laddered wrap with a magnetic closure. This is a work in progress, and this project page will be updated as the wrap is completed!

This is a double wrap bracelet with two strands of laddering. Each laddered wrap is just one wrap in length, but the overall look gives the illusion of two wraps. The second wrap is actually a four-way braid using the tails of leather used in the laddering.

Cut two lengths of leather, one for each strand of laddering...keep in mind that the amount of leather you will need will depend on your personal wrist size! Bring each length through the loop of your clasp, folding over at the middle. Secure with a silk wrap using a third length of leather, glue to secure.

Ladder each side separately or together, as you desire. Kate works on both simultaneously so she can see how they look next to each other. Ladder your way down (Kate uses Infinity Stitch) and complete each laddered wrap so each one fits just once around your wrist. Taper to a close, and silk wrap all four strands of leather together. Kate uses Waxed Linen on this silk wrap.

Use those four tails of leather to create a four-strand braid. To end and attach to the other end of the clasp, bring two strands of leather through the loop of the clasp and fold back on itself. Silk wrap over all six strands, and trim all ends after silk wrapping or use as tassels.
