Sample By: Janice Parsons
In this extra wide beaded cuff, Janice has taken the techniques demonstrated in Sam’s video, Tricks to Looming & Bead Weaving Tricks to Looming & Bead Weaving and created a PDF covering next-level designs for those who have learned to loom and want more! Building on Sam’s practice of making your own loom with just a simple design board, Janice creates a dazzling design with this very intermediate-level beaded cuff in Czech Glass, Seed Beads* and Little Shadows Hex Beads. There is a downloadable PDF covering how to shade, make a wider band and use a button loop. The PDF is free and the making of this bracelet is so fun! Please note: This PDF is in addition to the one created by Sam for Tricks to Looming & Bead Weaving.
*Please note: The cuff pictured uses 2.5-3mm freshwater pearls which are no longer available. We have substituted 8/0 Ivory Celedon Seed Beads and the resulting cuff will have a similar look.
Happy New Year
Project Map
Everyone has a different wrist size and so you need to begin first with measuring your wrist. Once you have that number, you can plan how much beadwork you want and how wide your suede cuff will be. With an extra wide bracelet, giving your design enough of a fabric cuff is important for it to be structurally sound. Watch the video and download the freee handout which goes into detail regarding all the techniques to make this bracelet.
In addition, please explore the other designs of Tricks to Looming and Bead Weaving. There are downloadable patterns for all of Sam’s designs. I hope you enjoy making these as much as I do! We would love to see your finished products. Hopefully, we can post your creation on our Facebook Page. Happy Beading!
