Elegant and primitive at the same time, the African wood instrument, the Mbira has bell-like sounds and is considered necessary to the music of many African cultures. Fitted with metal keys, these carved, wooden instruments may look simple yet they create incredible melodies. Sam wanted to create a 3-wrap bracelet which reflected the harmony of African Padre Beads and their similarity to the Mbira in character. This bracelet project combines two of our most popular techniques, laddering and silk wrapping, into a melodic pattern that catches your eye.
Skill Builders used in this project:
Folklorico- Mbira
