Samples by Robin Tobias*
Found along many rivers of North America, this lovely tree grows a cinnamon-colored bark that curls and peels with age. When Robin* selected the cord and bead colors for this collection of Bollywood, we think she heard the tinkling sound birch leaves make when the wind is blowing.
And it’s really amazing that with just 4 tubes of seed beads and 5 colors of Chinese Knotting Cord, you can make 15 bracelets! Just add a few organza bags to your order and you can keep some and give some away as gifts. How perfect!

See the Project Map below for a Bird’s Eye View of what beads Robin paired with what cord. Bollywood is a video project. Be sure to click on the VIDEO tab above to watch. We do not have a companion handout for Bollywood, however these techniques are helpful to review, if you’re new to Bollywood:
- How to Secure a Project to a Board
- How to Macramé
- How to Singe Cord Using a Thread Zap
Please note: We no longer sell Thread Zaps, which Brittany demonstrates in the video. You can secure your knots with GS Hypo-tube Cement and cut the excess cord with Thread Snips or Flush Cutters.

Robin’s samples use two sizes of seed beads (8/0 and 6/0) in just two colors, but notice how when you mix the five cord colors you get a variety that looks like so much more. When finishing the tails of each bracelet, Robin found it easier to use the 6/0 seed beads on all the tails rather than trying to fit 8/0’s on the ends, as Brittany did in the original samples.
