Project and Sample by Kate Richbourg
Back in 2022, Drea created an amazing SuperDuo necklace we call Fair Isle, stitching SuperDuos into hexagon shapes and connecting them to form a striking necklace centerpiece.
Kate has taken inspiration from that idea and given it a decidedly French twist for Berthe. Using our September SuperDuo Mix- Self Portrait, individual beadwoven components are stitched together and finished with a grosgrain ribbon to tie it around the neck, creating a richly textured statement necklace inspired by Berthe Morisot’s self-portrait.
The design evokes the adornment Morisot wears in the painting, from the black grosgrain ribbon tied around her neck to the soft, floral feeling of the stitched motifs on her gown. The colors in the mix reflect that wonderfully painterly quality that makes the piece feel both artistic and wearable.
Created for Kate’s birthday month, Berthe is feminine, chic, a little dramatic, and destined to become a signature piece.
