This month's mix celebrates the American artist, Carrie Moyer. A contemporary artist known for her vibrant, abstract paintings that explore themes related to feminism, queer identity, and social justice. Moyer's specific work, "Always Venus, Never Mars", reflects a political and personal point of view that challenges traditional gender norms and celebrates female empowerment. 

Carrie Moyer was selected by Miranda and we feel so fortunate to be introduced to such a singular talent whose creativity and voice is both relevant and contemporary. Moyer's paintings are large and powerful. The paint almost seems liquid and transparent as viewed through multiple layers. We hope you find her work inspiring. Artist Inspiration:  Always Venus, Never Mars was painted in 2025. The rich colors and layered textures in her art echo the complexity, and often feminine beauty, of beadwork. We chose Czech Mini Gemduos because the flat surface of their design (giving out color like a canvas) and their reflective quality, seem to mirror the flowing, vibrant colors in Moyer's paintings.

Project Ideas: This month's bead mix was also inspired by Danielle Wickes, whose Neon Notebook project, Mini Gem Weave, was the reason we chose to highlight Mini Gemduos. The colors and shapes just seemed to pair so well with Moyer's style of painting. Be sure to check out Kate's Goddess Earrings.
