Project Info:
Level: Beginner
Estimated time: 1-3 Hours
Sample by Beckie TenEyck
Back in January of 2016, we got a short email inquiry from a customer: “I was curious if you did awareness projects? My son has autism and April 2 starts Autism Awareness month - ‘Light It Up Blue’. Maybe a simple blue project? Just a suggestion that would rock. The only thing missing is a small puzzle piece charm. thanks, Tammy”
Tammy had me at hello and when I heard her talk about her amazing, 7 year old son, Gavin, I was totally hooked. I researched the blue colors in the Autism Speaks blue and silver motif and scoured my suppliers for a puzzle piece charm, which we then named “Gavin’s Charm”. It came together when Beckie Ten Eyck made the samples and I could see how special this was.
What a great project to help raise awareness for Autism; make bracelets to give away or for fundraising. I hope you like this project and will get involved. Whatever you can do to help, it is both needed and appreciated. Thank you, Tammy and Gavin. And thank you everybody! ~janice
