Ancient History

Project by: Janice Parsons
Sample by: Janice Parsons

Made of 108 beads in Turitella Agate, this very simple mala was originally embellished with a bone pendant and antique brass bead. The pendant is no longer available, but we have made some suggestions in the ingredients list to the left for a replacement...use one, or find something else that speaks to you! Traditionally, a mala is used in Buddhism for meditation and chanting. With 108 beads plus a guru bead, they are both functional and beautiful. In this sample, Janice kept with the classic all-one-bead design and made it artisan by adding the rustic pendant. In this project, you will learn to knot using the classic pearl knotting method. Janice also covers how to knot the closure seamlessly, what cord size to use and how to add a tassel. The handout is easy to view. Click the PDF Download button. And all the products are available for purchase. Click on the Ingredients tab above to add to your cart. Please read through the handout completely before you start. We hope you enjoy!
