Yes, there are blue hibiscus native to California, and they are gorgeous. With more than 100 species of Hibiscus, there’s one for everyone. Symbolizing love, peace, friendship, and unity, we think it’s easy to adore the hibiscus.
The bead used in the original project, Mosaic 4 Wrap, was the 2-hole Japanese Tila bead made by Miyuki of Japan. When we started carrying CzechMates Tiles, we thought Mosaic 4 Wrap was the perfect project to showcase this other 2-hole flat square bead. We think it works beautifully and we hope you do too.

Blue Hibiscus

Please Note: Many of our older samples use beads and components that are no longer available. While we have made substitutions, you may find something you like better! Be sure to check out our entire selection of components by clicking on the general categories in the linked recipe list above.
Blue Hibiscus is a 4-wrap sample which is 29 inches in length measured from the button shank to the end of the button loop. It will wrap four times around a 7 inch wrist. Modify the length or add a second button loop to make it adjustable for a wrist smaller or larger than 7 inches. There are enough beads in the Ingredients List to make it a 5 wrap. If you want to make it longer cut your leather 2-1/2 yards, rather than 2 yards, and adjust your pattern for the additional wrap.

Using Tuff Cord #1, ladder a random pattern of five Tiles and two rows of 8/0 seed beads.

Add a new piece of Tuff Cord, as needed. It’s best to start it in a row of 8/0 seed beads.

Adding a charm is optional before you end with another C-Lon Silk Wrap.

Silk Wrap after your button loop and tie knots in leather ends.
