Made in the mid 1900‘s, these venetian beads are like those brought to the “new world” by missionaries more than three hundred years ago. Padre beads took their name from the men whose religious orders sent them from Europe to the “uncivilized” world to bring “progress.” Blue was highly valued by the indigenous people because of its rarity. Eventually, the beads found their way into the handicrafts and beadwork of the natives, which to this day is priceless and rare.
Sold in packages of 8 beads.
