Tiny Sand Cast- Cobalt
3x3mm Recycled Glass Beads IHD: 0.9mm
Made in Ghana, these beads are still being manufactured today using the same methods dating back to the 1600’s. Beads such as these are often worn as traditional waist beads. The process of making these beads is unique to Africa and has been used for over 1000 years. Pulverized glass of various colors is poured into a clay mold, using a cassava stem for the bead's hole. The mold is placed in a furnace and heated until the glass particles congeal without actually melting and the stem burns out.
Sizing Info: Approx. 3x3mm, with a 0.9mm hole. Expect variations in size, color and shape as they are completely handmade.
Sold by the 26" strand, approximately 280 beads.
