Inspired by the repetitive rhythm of her masks and the geometry of her wire sculptures, they selected Czech glass SuperDuos, which mirror the shape, texture and color of Asawa's wall of masks. "We want this mix to honor Ruth Asawa, and the shape and colors of the Superduos were so perfect. Then we found the Superduo Cymbal, Kalyvari VI*, to use for the ending, and it clinched it for us.... they mimic her suspended wire sculptures so beautifully. Yet her vision—patient, intricate, and deeply original—persisted. Born in 1926, she came of age during one of the most turbulent periods in American history. Along with her family, she was forcibly incarcerated in Japanese American internment camps in California and Arkansas during World War II. Until she died in 2013, she continued to create her unique artwork which captures the essence of Point of View. Asawa made wire move and breathe and dance. She also captured wire's symbolism, which is not lost on generations of art lovers.

Celebrated as one of the most important American artists of the 20th century, Asawa's wire sculptures are both delicate and strong.
