Born in Ukraine in 1885, Sonia was exposed early to the world of art, especially the pivotal art in Paris at the turn of the Twentieth Century. She settled in Paris and married her husband, Robert Delaunay, in 1910 and the two were a formidable force in art. They were the founders of the \u003cspan\u003eOrphism, also called Simultaneism, an artistic movement that believed the artist saw light, color and movement all at the same time. During her life, she not only painted but she designed clothes, costumes for theatrical productions and even shoes. Delaunay believed art was to be seen in everything, not just galleries. She died in 1985 but during her life, she was honored with the first solo show by a living artist at the Louvre in Paris in 1964.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eKate found inspiration for \u003cem\u003eSonia\u003c\/em\u003e in Delaunay's most famous painting, \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003cspan data-sheets-root=\"1\"\u003eElectric Prisms 1914.
