The “Pony Bead” became famous through trade between Europeans and Native Americans as far back as four hundred years. This particular bead became known as a “pony bead” because it could be easily braided through a horse's hair due to their large inner holes. Hudson Bay Trading Posts would trade with the Indians for beaver skins and beads were the money used to barter. These contemporary beads are made in India. We have taken the time to carefully antique them for you.
