Project and Samples by Brittany Ketcham-Roney
Brittany’s turned the volume up on Bollywood!! With the classic beadshop Bollywood bracelets in mind, Brittany has created a series of five necklaces using various macramé techniques. Wear alone, layer a few, layer all five…this is Bollywood Brilliance!
Necklace A
A single and simple strand of 0.8 CKC in Geisha, with a Little Hamsa charm. Closed with a traditional Bollywood-style slide clasp with 0.4 CKC, with single 8/0 Seed Beads knotted on the necklace ends.
Necklace B
Two strands of Geisha 0.5mm CKC make up the base of this necklace. Brittany has strung Czech Drops directly onto the 0.5 Center strand, and knotted around and between them with spiral knots. An Oasis charm is at the center.
Closed with a traditional Bollywood-style slide clasp with 0.4 Geisha CKC, with single Faceted Czech Drops knotted on the necklace ends.
Necklace C
A Single strand of 0.4mm Geisha CKC is strung with many 8/0 Seed Beads. Using both Geisha and Boysenberry CKC in 0.4mm, Brittany has decorates this strand with four techniques: strung beads, macramé around strung beads, flat macramé, and spiral macramé. The Asana Charm hangs at the the center, and it’s closed with a traditional Bollywood-style slide clasp (which is knotted over twice to give it some bulk) with two 8/0 Seed Beads knotted on the necklace ends.
Necklace D
Brittany uses both 0.8 and 0.5 CKC in both colors, and hung a Resting Buddha charm at the center. She uses beaded flat knot, spiral knots, and silk wraps to decorate. The center strands are 0.5, the knotting strands are 0.8.
She updates the slide clasp on this one, using spiral knots instead of flat. Cute! Once again, single Faceted Czech Drops are knotted on the necklace ends.
Necklace E
With 0.5 CKC in both colors, this is done in a Poetry/Born Yesterday style with 5mm Czech Rondelles strung onto the center strands and her macramé cords going around each bead and knitting between. Spiral knots accentuate the center, where a single Faceted Drop is hung, held in place by a single 8/0 seed bead. Spiral knots are also done above the beads. It’s closed with a traditional Bollywood-style slide clasp in a contrasting color, with two 8/0 Seed Beads knotted on the necklace ends.
Each necklace is unique, but they clearly mesh together. We’d love to see your own take on this project! Check out our Recipe Page for the basic ingredients that you can choose in your own colorways.
